Way back when I was seriously getting into the saxophone in high school, I didn't know much about mouthpieces. As a starting point I decided just to use the same mouthpieces Kenny uses: a Dukoff on soprano, RIA metal on tenor, and a Beechler diamond inlay on alto. The facings I got on tenor and alto are different than Kenny's though. I'm so used to them after all this time I have no reason to try anything else.

I personally prefer Lawton metal mouth pieces, 7* for tenor and a 5* for soprano. It really is just the players preference of what kind of mouth piece you should use. It took me over 5 years to find the right mouth piece to play with ease and comfortability. Just shop around and try different brands and you will soon come upon one that you find is accustomed to you.

Well for Soprano, I use a Dukoff D8 and a stock lig with Hemke 2.5's. I also use a BARI gold mouthpiece with Vandoren Java 2.0's. I like the brighter sound of the Dukoff and the incredible sound it produces with vibrato, but I like the BARI because it stands out, and produces a clearer tone. As far as rubber mouthpices, just a standard BARI, They sound middl-treble, and classical, and they are extremely easy to play on, and get a good sound out of.

Yo creo q basicamente el timbre es algo bien personal, todos deberiamos tener un timbre especial. El timbre de Kenny es especial, incluso me atrevo a decir q es su mejor atributo. La boquilla es importante pero no todos interpretamos una misma boquilla de la misma manera. Por eso recomiendo no tener tanto el cuenta la marca o el precio y sentarse a probar muchas boquillas, hasta allar aquella que mas se parezca a nuestros sueños.

Q I think basically the color of the sound is something very personal, everyone should have a special sound color. Kenny color is very special, even dare I say q is its best attribute. The mouthpiece is important but not all interpret the same mouthpiece in the same way. I therefore recommend both the account does not have the brand or the price and sit back and try many Mouthpieces, until you find one that most resembles our dreams.
