I really wish I could help you out on this. I met Kenny G for the first time last night at his concert, and that is were I saw one of his custom made Tenors. I fell head over heals for it. I play tenor as well. I am really considering buying a soprano, but sadly money is the issue. I'd say buy it. You only live once.

I bought one and it plays good! As with all saxophones. each one has a variation, but I've tried out several of them in the Kenny G line and all of them were good!

I actually have the KG pro model that plays better, and in my opinion you should spend a little more and get that one, but I have also tried the E Series, and those horns do play very well for being a student model. The play better than the other student models out their, and are close to being pro!
